The son of Earl Aethelwine and Gwynyfyr, Thurlkill has been fostered to King Harold to be raised in the royal court and taught the skills needed by a warrior and nobleman. Born around 1052, Thurlkill is beginning to demonstrate acumen and ability and Harold is preparing to give his friend's son more responsibility as Harold is finding that he needs men he can trust to act in his best interests while he is attempting to cement his hold over England in the wake of the attempted invasions for Harald Hardraada and William of Normandy.
